Masimo

CCHD Screening with Pulse Oximetry

Masimo Monitors (Radical 7 or Rad 97) with Masimo Technology that comes with multiple Modes and various disposable sensors sizes:
Pulse oximeter Mode with your choice of using the standard parameters SPO2, Pulse Rate and Perfusion Index or the advanced parameters with Rainbow technology that measures total hemoglobin non-Invasively, Pleth Variability Index, … Etc.
Along with the Eve Software system that conducts the congenital heart disease screening for newborn.

What is Masimo Technology:

Masimo’s breakthrough Signal Extraction Technology® (SET®) overcomes the limitations of conventional pulse oximetry with the ability to measure through motion and low perfusion.

Reliable, Accurate Screening for Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) with Masimo SET

Congenital heart defects (CHDs) are the most common birth-related malformation.1 Critical CHDs (CCHDs) are life threatening and account for nearly 25% of all CHDs.2 Babies sent home with an undetected heart defect are at risk of serious complications within the first few days or weeks of life, requiring emergency care,3 and even at risk of dying.

In a recent study, researchers found a 33% decrease in infant cardiac deaths after statewide implementation of mandatory policies for CCHD screening, compared with prior periods and states without policies, as well as a 21% decrease in early infant deaths from other/unspecified cardiac causes

Why is it Important to use Masimo SET® Pulse Oximetry for CCHD Screening?

The ability to measure through motion enables researchers and clinicians to obtain pulse oximetry measurements on active newborns without needing to first calm them or wait for stable plethysmographic waveforms to be displayed.

Masimo SET® was also the first pulse oximetry technology to receive FDA 510(k) clearance in the labeling, in 2012, to screen newborn patients for CCHD.9

Two separate studies found that Masimo SET® pulse oximeters detected approximately 10 times more true events than other “Next Generation” pulse oximeters studied.10,11 More importantly, in another study comparing the ability of three pulse oximetry technologies to detect hypoxic events, Masimo SET® pulse oximetry demonstrated the highest sensitivity and specificity during induced conditions of motion and low perfusion.12

Masimo Patient SafetyNet

A supplemental remote monitoring and clinician notification system that displays near real-time information from connected Masimo and third-party devices at a central station

Combined with Replica™, these alarms and alerts travel from bedside devices to a clinician’s tablet or smartphone

Radius PPG™ Tetherless Pulse Oximetry

Radius PPG provides industry-leading Masimo SET® pulse oximetry without a cabled connection to a monitor, allowing patients to move wirelessly and comfortably while still being continuously and reliably monitored. Wireless connection to a host device is simple to establish and each Radius PPG can easily pair with multiple devices (maintaining connection to any one device at a time), simplifying transfers between care areas. Automated by Masimo’s connectivity solutions, patient data can be used for remote clinician notification of changes in patient condition and automatically transferred to the hospital EMR
